The Northern Lights (or Aurora Borealis) is one of the most beautiful phenomena in nature. Observing the distinctive green and purple lights shimmer in the night sky is a truly special experience, and the perfect highlight to a winter break.
On this holiday, the Northern Lights beckon during a guided journey to learn their shimmering secrets. No stop in Iceland is complete without a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon, where spa indulgences offer unearthly relaxation. You will also explore geothermal geysers, waterfalls and unique volcanic formations.
Day 1: Afternoon arrival with the Blue Lagoon
Upon arrival at Keflavik airport, board the non-guided airport shuttle for a transfer to the Blue Lagoon where you can bathe in its rich mineral waters (bathing fee included). Soothed and relaxed, head to Reykjavik on one of the scheduled transfer coaches departing the Blue Lagoon and check in at your hotel.
Day 2: The Golden Circle Tour
National Park (UNESCO) - Spouting Geysers - Majestic Waterfall - Greenhouses
Discover three of the most outstanding attractions in the south of Iceland. The first stop is at Thingvellir National Park, then onward to the Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area. On the way we stop at Farm Fridheimar
Day 3 - Evening Northern Lights Hunt
Explore Reykjavik - Northern Lights Hunt
A day of leisure and relaxation or join one of our many day tours. This evening you will join an organised tour out of the city's bright lights to hunt for the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis. These are often seen dancing around in fantastic colors across the Arctic sky.
Please note that northern lights are weather-dependent and sightings are not guaranteed
Day 4: Departure day
Free day for leisure - departure
If your flight is in the afternoon, use your last moments to walk along the harbor seafront and breathe the fresh Atlantic breeze - or if you still need to relax, visit one of the city's swimming pools. There you can chat with the locals while relaxing in the geothermal mist.
