Itinerary For Game of Thrones fans, our Private Luxury Game of Thrones Jeep Tour is a great way to explore some of the Icelandic landscapes and features that have been used as filming locations in the popular HBO TV series. With its dramatic and out-of-this-world landscapes, Iceland presented itself as the perfect backdrop for some scenes in the show, as you will find out for yourself as we explore some of them. The first stop on our Private Luxury Game of Thrones Jeep Tour is Þórufoss waterfall. Less famous than other waterfalls in the country, this waterfall is beautifully hidden along the river Laxá í Kjós and it appears in Game of Thrones when Drogon the dragon hunts for goats in Meereen. A dramatic waterfall for a very fierce scene! We continue with a visit to Þingvellir/Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for being the site where the world’s first parliament, the Alþing, was established in 930 and then held until 1798. Thingvellir is also known as it is located on the fault where the North American and the European tectonic plates are drifting apart. Thingvellir’s fascinating canyon Almannagjá was used to represent the Bloody Gate, the passage to the Eyrie taken by Little Finger and Sansa Stark, as well as by Arya and the Hound, and also to film scenes with the Wildlings. We visit Öxarárfoss waterfall, featured in the show with Arya standing next to it on a horse after a fight. We continue our luxury tour to ÞjóðveldisbærinnStöng, the Commonwealth Farm, a replica of a Viking farmstead in Iceland, located in the beautiful Þjórsárdalur valley in the southern Icelandic Highlands. This was considered the perfect set for a village in the North, and it is specifically Olly’s village, that the ransacked and attacked, slaughtering farmers. Not far from Stöng, in the same valley, is a beautiful waterfall, Háifoss, often forgotten by visitors. It is Iceland’s second-highest waterfall and we visit it as we continue into the valley and make our way to Gjáin, a peaceful fairytale-like valley with beautiful waterfalls and lava formation, used in scened where Arya was learning to fight. If you are a fan of the show, you should not miss this tour which will take you to see some of its most beautiful filming locations in southwest Iceland, in luxury and comfort.
