Extreme Lava Tunnel Tour
Season: All year round, daily. Duration: 5-6 hours total (3-4 hours in the cave)
This tour is for the adventure seeker and takes you all the way to the end of the tunnel where magnificent lava falls and other natural monuments await. Truly an unforgettable experience.
Please bear in mind that the extreme tour require traverse over a difficult terrain, including big rocks and boulders so a good balance and good physical health is required. Also, you will spend 3 – 4 hours in the cave, relying on the head torch only to navigate through this wonder-world underground so we do not recommend this tour for those that may suffer from some sort of claustrophobia. We do not recommend this tour for pregnant women. Passengers must be wearing hiking shoes with ankle support. If you are staying in the Reykjavík area we can provide a free pick up and drop off if needed. Please note that this pick up needs to take place outside the bus ban zone in downtown Reykjavik. Helmets, headlights, gloves and other specialized equipment provided. Hiking boots (with ankle support) and warm clothes are required and we recommend a backpack for water and snack. Bear in mind that there is usually some water dripping from the ceiling so wearing a water resistant or water proof jacket/clothes is good. Please note that there is a minimum number of two passengers for the Extreme Lava Tunnel tour. The Lava Tunnel reserves the right to cancel a tour with at least one hour notice if there is insufficient number of passengers. Of course, if The Lava Tunnel cancels your tour you get a full refund. The Lava Tunnel also reserves the right to deny a passenger with insufficient clothing and/or foot wear on the tour.
Difficulty: 4/5. Only for people in good physical shape. This tour is not recommended for people with back, knee or other health issues.
