Enjoy yoga and meditation in the unique surroundings of Reynisfjara beach in South Iceland. Indulge your mind and body to a retreat centered around yoga, meditation and nature. Each class begins with dynamic warm-up exercises, progressing to classical poses and rounds off with breathing exercises, deep-relaxation and meditation. Yoga stands for uniting and wholeness, to seek harmony between the opposing forces that push and pull us through life, symbolised by two overlapping triangles. Many of the poses consist of bending the body forward and backward. These exercises alleviate spines irregularities and are essential in providing and maintaining a balanced and healthy body. The effect of the physical exercises and poses can be felt and experienced as a whole body massage, whereby stress and tensions are smoothed and dissolved. In meditation we use specific techniques combining the breath, mantra and mental exercises, where we can withdraw the senses from the surroundings for a while. Liberated from external influences, awareness is guided inwards, with focus on the Self. Through this inner journey, a release of energy is given to the body and mind, as well as our intuitive universe is expanded. Working with others outside the yoga room in communal activities, such as gardening and food preparation will also be an integral part of the course. Karma yoga, as it is called, could be understood as acting in accordance with one's duty without consideration of personal likes or dislikes. In between yoga and the delicious vegetarian meals, prepared for you in a beautiful setting, there will be opportunities for exploring the beauty of Iceland, by foot and on horseback, a restorative foot soak, and ample time for rest and relaxation. Participate in a sacred fire ceremony and sweat lodge, explore the walking trails, and slow down in your free time. The surroundings of Iceland, our yoga sessions and the nourishing food will leave you with a deep sense of rejuvenation and connection. DAY 1.
